On the back of five years of wind data capture, strong local support from the Carnarvon community, traditional owners and government, environment studies and project analysis, it’s time to deliver the next major energy project from Western Australia.

The development of the HyEnergy® WA-SA Energy Link renewable energy project will create local jobs, economic benefits for regional WA, while delivering critical power generation for Western Australia and the eastern states power generation markets.

The HyEnergy® WA-SA Energy Link would create a platform for future renewable energy industries, including hydrogen, ammonia and green methanol production, while also supporting the decarbonisation of mining and industrial operations located near the transmission corridor in Australia’s north-west.

Province Resources believes the project has the potential to become one of Australia’s most significant renewable energy infrastructure developments, helping deliver affordable, reliable and sustainable energy for future generations.

Province Resources is also actively assessing other new mining and energy project opportunities in Australia and overseas.

Why HVDC?

HVDC enables long-distance energy transmission with lower losses
Unlike traditional AC transmission, High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) can move large amounts of electricity over thousands of kilometres more efficiently. This makes it ideal for connecting renewable energy zones, offshore wind, remote mining regions and interstate grids across a vast country like Australia.
HVDC improves grid stability and energy security
HVDC links can connect separate power systems while helping manage fluctuations in supply and demand. They provide greater control over power flows, reduce congestion on existing networks and strengthen resilience during outages or extreme weather events — critical for Australia’s evolving energy market.
HVDC is essential for large-scale renewable integration
Renewable energy resources are often located far from cities and industrial centres. HVDC infrastructure helps unlock stranded solar, wind and hydrogen projects by transporting clean energy efficiently to where it is needed, supporting decarbonisation and future industrial growth.
Province’s HyEnergy® HVDC could unlock renewable power generation for the east coast of Australia. Every winter, wind speeds tend to drop in Australia’s population centres in the southeast while solar output is low. But inland northern regions are usually sunny and windy at this time. A long-distance HVDC line from Carnarvon in Western Australia could unlock these resources by connecting renewables power to the eastern gas markets.
